I am one of those people who needs to know how everything works. As a child, I somehow realized that the type of knowledge that is valuable is “cause-and-effect” knowledge. Everything else is of lesser importance. “A” was the cause that resulted in the effect “B.” “B” then became the cause that had the effect “C,” and so on. I learned that I could not observe some causes directly, but I could discover them by observing their effects. I began building a hierarchy of knowledge, starting with concrete facts of reality and ending with high-level abstract ideas that I could connect back to reality.
As former President/CEO of US Telecom and a recognized Founder of the Telecommunications Revolution, I have decades of first-hand experience in technology, including telecommunications, computers, networking, the Internet and Web, wireless, cellular, messaging, speech recognition and synthesis, and AI. I was a charter member of national committees defining and promoting technology standards for compliance and interoperability of various computing and communicating platforms. My experience enabled me to analyze the interactions between society, business, and advancing technology to identify cause-and-effect principles.
Prior to US Telecom, I began with an education in engineering and biology, was a carrier-qualified pilot in the US Navy, and was Regional President at US Home Corp, the nation’s largest land development and home building company. In my 30s, I developed a life-long interest in philosophy, psychology, and history. All this was invaluable in learning “how the world works.”

Now, as “The Future Coach,” I apply my personal communication skills to explain clearly to others the principles causing everything we see in our collapsing society with advancing technology and how to anticipate the future. I enjoy helping individuals achieve their heroic vision and helping organizations apply technology to benefit, not harm our society.
I am a grandfather with grandchildren in elementary school. When they reach high school age in about ten years, I want this book to be there for them if I am not.
